About the Event
The Virginia City Preservation Alliance will be holding its Annual Meeting on Sunday, November 13, at 2:00 p.m. The program will be held at the Elling House in Virginia City (404 East Idaho St.). The program will include a report on the activities of the Alliance, presentation of awards and entertainment by Bill Rossiter; the 2015 recipient of the Governor’s Award for Service to the Humanities.
Rossiter is the retired Chair of the Humanities Division of Flathead Valley Community College. Bill will be presenting “Going Out West to See the Elephant;” the songs and stories of the would-be settlers and boomers on their way to the Montana Territory and their trials and triumphs on the trail. Bill claims to have learned most of his songs at his mother’s knee and other low joints, and accompanies the songs by banjo, guitar and Autoharp.
This program is free of charge and open to the public.
